5th ANNUAL WALKATHON

The 5th Annual Service-Oriented Students (SOS) Walk Against Cancer will take place on Sunday, March 22 at 10:00 am at Parque dos Patins.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2009

The academic calendar for 2009/2010 is coming to life and some key dates have already been set:

Aug 3 First semester classes for 2009/10 academic year begin

Dec 18 First semester ends

Jan 25, 2010 Second semester classes for 2009/10 academic year begin

Update on USA CUP Summer Tournament

The first meeting about the USA CUP Tournament provided a general overview of the trip (tournament, housing, prices, schedule, etc.).

Please ask your son/daughter to pick up an application at the PE office. Parents must fill the credit card permission slip in order to confirm their child’s participation and to confirm plane tickets. As soon as the group is confirmed, the tickets will be issued. The deadline for both documents (Application Form and Credit Permission) is March 20th.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you son/daughter to the first soccer practices with student athletes from other schools who will be traveling with us so we begin the process of integrating and setting up the teams. These soccer practices will take place at Clube da Aeronáutica – Barra da Tijuca Rranch, Rua Raquel de Queiróz s/n – close to “Av da Américas,” behind “Bosque da Barra” on Saturday March 7 and 21 at 9:00 am to 10:30 am (10 to 12 year olds) and 11:00 am to 12:30 pm (13 and 14 year olds). Mrs. Gelda – USA cup coordinator in Brasil – will be available to answer questions about the trip and the tournament.

ID CARDS

Many students are forgetting their lunch cards which is leading   to long lines to pick up cafeteria tickets, and students do not have enough time to eat a relaxed meal. Please remind your children to bring their ID cards. Thank you!

TELEPHONE DIRECTORY
The Telephone Directory was distributed to the Lower and Middles Schools at the end of last semester and has been sent to the Upper School this week.

Most new families should have also received it. If you did not receive   a telephone book, please send the name of your youngest child and his/her teacher to Caren.Addis@earj.com.br.

The PTA is thanking parents who have paid their dues by giving them a spiffy plastic binder to hold the directories. They will be distributed in about two weeks.

TOY DONATION

Matheus Alfonso and Jacinta, his mother, cleaned out closets and donated toys that they have outgrown. The children of the Roupa Suja daycare center in Rocinha will be very happy! Thank you!
